Wait, what was that? Isn’t ‘results’ the whole measurement of what we do? Data, Stats, KPI’s??? Well, yes, but it’s not everything. Sometimes you learn more by missing the KPI, and that was the advice from Brian Tate of Oats Overnight. As a former professional poker player, Brian understands that you can’t control all the outcomes – and that what is past – is ‘passed’ – and you need to learn and move forward.
When we were talking about this, Brian commented that it was counter-intuitive – but he also said that if you tied yourself to each and every outcome, every card hand, every dice throw, you’d soon become dysfunctional. Better to look at the longer odds, learn from mistakes and move forward!
