It’s that simple. You can have a clean label, great packaging –all the right stuff, but, if you’re a new food or beverage brand, you better have ‘taste’ or go home. We got that counsel from Erica Liu Williams, the founder and CEO of the awesome (and very tasty..) gr8nola brand of granola.
Erica is one of my favorite founders I work with – besides a great product, she is high energy and very direct, so we never expected her counsel to mince words. And she has such a valid point – yes, we want better-for-you, clean label – and maybe even vegan, organic, you name it –but if it tastes like crap – who’s going to buy it (any more than once?). Erica is constantly doing R&D to come up with new and better flavors – because she knows that why you keep buying a brand after all – and that’s how you win!!
